Every 2 points of CLT raises your units' UQ (Unit Quality) by 1, allowing you to upgrade them to more advanced chassis in the lab. Those advanced chassis (mk2, mk3, etc.) have more hp, armor, speed, view range and space, thus making them much tougher.
Any given player can see what units the players with at least 10 less CLT are using in any given battle.
